Mark Zuckerberg: A Story of Pure Success

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is an American programmer, Internet provider, executive, and philanthropist. He is the chairman, chief executive officer, and co-founder of Facebook. His net worth is estimated to be $54.5 billion as of September 2016, ranking him in the top 5 richest people in this world.

He launched Facebook from Harvard’s dormitory rooms, then introduced it to other campuses. It expanded rapidly, with one billion users by 2012. Zuckerberg was involved in various legal disputes that were initiated by others in his group, who claimed a share of the company based upon their involvement during Facebook  development phase.

 

The Beginning

Zuckerberg grew up in White Plains, New York, into a comfortable, well-educated family, and raised in the nearby village of Dobbs Ferry. His father, Edward Zuckerberg, ran a dental practice attached to the family’s home. His mother, Karen, worked as a psychiatrist before the birth of the couple’s four children – Mark, Randi, Donna and Arielle.

Zuckerberg developed an interest in computers at an early age; When he was about 12 years old, he used (Atari) BASIC to create a messaging program he named “Zucknet.” His father used the program in his dental office, so that the reception clerk could inform him of a new patient without moving. The family also used Zucknet to communicate within the house Together, he also created computer games.

Zuckerberg later studied at Phillips Exeter Academy, an exclusive preparatory school in New Hampshire. There he showed talent in fencing, becoming the captain of the school’s team, yet Zuckerberg remained fascinated by computers, and continued to work on developing new programs. Several companies including AOL and Microsoft expressed an interest in buying the software, and hiring the teenager before graduation. He declined the offers.

Microsoft and AOL tried to buy the synapse (Media player app by Zuckerberg) but he refused and preferred to be downloaded free of charge.

He enrolled at Harvard University to pursue his passion for computers and programming.

 

Marriages Stage

Zuckerberg Surprised his friends and those close to him in 2011 in its 28th, when he tied the knot on his girlfriend Priscilla Chan (who he knew for about 9 years)  in a private and a small wedding ceremony at his home in Palo Alto, California in front of 100 people, all of the guests, who had come originally to celebrate the graduation of their friend Chan from the Faculty of Medicine.

Cultured & Multilingual

Zuckerberg can read and write in five languages English, Hebrew, French, Latin and Greek, and is well-known for being intellectual and cultured.

 

His Life at University

After graduating from Exeter Academy in 2002, Zuckerberg joined Harvard University and began the development of a program called Course Match, which allowed users to make class selection decisions based on the choices of other students and also to help them form study groups.

A while later, he created program called Facemash that let students select the most attractive person from a choice of photos. It went viral and then got cancelled  by the university administration for disciplinary reasons.

Three of Mark’s colleagues at the university (Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra) contacted and briefed him on the idea of ​​developing a social networking site called Harvard Connection. But Marc has started working on his own social network along with three of his colleagues, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saveri.

Mark and his colleagues developed a social networking site, which allows users to design their own pages, download pictures and communicate with other users.

In June 2004, the mark left university and move his company to Palo Al California, Facebook users at that time exceeded one million.

 

Fame & Spotlight

Despite the presence of his name in the news and television programs and movies (The Social Network), Mark Zuckerberg does not like the spotlight. Being shy and taciturn, he does not prefer to appear in many public events.
